Finally to settle down in Kelowna and build an adventure rock act that is about entertaining and involving the audience like they are part of the show. Tripmeter Band Members

Five college friends, a dose of musical obsession, and the refusal to live an unreflective life: these are the things that collide to form Tripmeter. After playing numerous live shows spanning the prairie provinces of Canada, their debut album, Wide World Crashing, was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award. With February 5th release of their second album The End of Everything We Are, these Caronport, Saskatchewan-based rockers are taking their music where it hasn’t gone before. The quintet boasts sizzling synth-mospheres, growling baritone guitars, a powerful dual vocal attack – all ornamenting songs obviously composed by the melodically-infatuated. And if there could ever be any doubts about their sincerity and passion, well, their live shows (coming soon to both Western and Eastern Canada) puts all those uncertainties to rest – soundly.

Armchair Cynics Band Members

A band is like a person - the more you get to know it, the deeper it becomes. When Armchair Cynics released the Killing the Romance EP in 2005, the Victoria-based four piece established itself as a sturdy modern rock outfit in a market already crowded with sturdy modern rock outfits. And the Cynics might have disappeared forever inside that too-often dreary throng if it hadn’t been for the nuances rattling around inside numbers like “Bang” and “Surprise Ending” - an almost covert pop sensibility behind the arrangements and atypical chord changes that lifted Killing the Romance out of its stubbornly earthbound genre.

Chasing Satellites

Some of the best things in life happen when you stop looking for them. In 2006 singer Daniel Bryant and lead guitarist Aaron Bethune were introduced by a mutual friend, and four time Juno nominated producer, Rick Salt. They had recently come out of successful projects with bad endings. “It’s really hard to find the right combination of people that are dedicated enough to make something work, that contribute equally, and that most importantly have the same goal” said Bethune in an interview.

The songs then made their way to master craftsman Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound for engineering and a final polish. Once available for distribution, the songs received immediate attention. The track “Believe” was selected for a compilation CD by RadioUgly (Volume 1). Raw Vegas TV selected “Can’t Control This” as the music for their UFC fight promotion, and the song continues to be heard on Fox Sports South’s MMA commercials.

Closing Iris Band Pic

The group’s diverse sound has been described by onlookers as raw, soulful, progressive and captivating. At a Closing Iris concert it is not unusual to hear whole sections of song transform into spontaneous performances that no audience will witness again. The 6-song debut EP entitled ‘Another Reason (to lie to yourself)’ was released independently on iTunes in August of 2008 and has since received glowing reviews. The album appeals to music fans who care about lyrics, enjoy variety, and prefer music that is unusual while still remaining accessible.

Sasha Hall Pic

Unfortunately, at 13 years old, she began to develop nodules from the excess usage of her young voice. Sasha then began singing jazz. Performing and competing in various festivals, she quickly impressed the audiences, and proved her vocal abilities by winning Kiwanis in 1999, placing 1st in Musical Theater, Folk and Duet. Even with all of these successes, she was sorely missing her classical studies. Sasha underwent speech therapy to try and salvage her opera career, but unfortunately the damage was already done. Sasha quit singing for several years, but was drawn back in when she heard the melodic rock sounds of a Kelowna, BC band called Blinded and decided it was time to start again.

Her tastes had evolved through her teens and she discovered her love of rock music. Fast-forward to 2007, Sasha met local songwriter/performer Dasha at her weekly vocal lesson. The two decided to collaborate on some song ideas and quickly wrote a number of tunes. Sasha and Dasha demo’d an acoustic version of “Headlong” at The Warehouse studio and agreed that they wanted to hear it as a full-band effort. Gathering together a group of local musicians (Tobi Duquette, Austin Short and Andrew Marks from Finding Friday and Jesse Wainwright from Juno-nominated State of Shock) they took three of their new creations and put them into the hands of Tricky Timmy at Ear Art Music Studios What you are about to hear is a lot of Sasha’s heart and soul. Stay tuned for a whole lot more.
